Virtual Machine Catalog

This document intends to give an overview of Virtual Machine catalog and help the user to make a clear decision on choosing the right demo environment.

The Virtual Machine Catalog is developed to support our Pre-Sales community who wishes to have a Virtual Machine to do a customer demonstration. Earlier, Technical Marketing had 2 different sites (one for internal Siemens, another for Partners, SI and Re sellers) to host this information. It was important for us to consolidate these 2 lists and release it on a common platform, which will be accessible to both Internals as well as Partner community.

Internal Siemens employees and Partner community will be able to see following information on the site depending upon their webkey credentials.

1. Demo Environment Name - Listing has been managed and sorted as per the Virtual Machine name
2. TC Version - Version of the Teamcenter available in the VM
3. Active Workspace Version - Version of the Active Workspace available in the VM
4. Featured Solutions - Important Features solutions that the VM supports
5. Download Aspera - This options will be available for Internal Siemens Employees only. Due to IT restrictions, partners cannot access PL Shares and thus this option of download cannot be made available to Partner community.
6. Submit - This options will be visible for Partner Community only. Due to IT restriction on accessibility of PL Shares to Partner community, we have automated the Faspex process, which will send the files directly to the requester via Faspex.
7. Search - Will search as per the Key Word in the database and showcase the result as per the match on the site.
8. Sort - Sorting can be done against Demo Env. Name, TC Version, Active Workspace Version, Featured Solutions.
9. Expand option - Every row has an expand option. Upon expanding, users will be able to see other important information w.r.t. the Virtual Machine
• When Released - Information w.r.t. released year of the environment
• Other Software - Important Software, which the environment has other than then TC & AW.
• Demo Kit - Information w.r.t. Demo Kit the Virtual Machine supports. A direct URL to the Demo Kit page in Highspot is also provided.
• Dataset used in the kit - Information about the dataset is provided.

How to surf the site

There are multiple ways you can surf this site

• Regular way - Sort the table against, Demo env name, TC version, AW version, Featured solutions
• Search - Search your requirement depending against any key word eg. Demo Kit Name, Other software's, Dataset used etc. if its available in the database, the same will be shown on the page

Process for Employees

• Surf the catalog
• Choose the Base or relevant Overlay as per your need
• Click on the Download Aspera links (You have a choice to download it from US, EU, AP)
• Login to Aspera Shares using your windows credentials
• Download the Folders/File

Process for Partners

• Surf the catalog
• Choose the Base and Overlay as per your choice
• Click on the Submit button
• Confirmation via pop message and email
• Email from Faspex with Download links will be sent within an hour depending upon the size of the file / folder
